Johnny Lingo
Providence, RI based vocalist/pianist Johnny Lingo has been wowing crowds since he hit the scene in 2004 after winning Brown University’s 95.5 WBRU infamous Rock Hunt, with former band The Lingo. In 2008 he formed his solo band, Johnny Lingo Band, and recorded “Shake It Off” with members of ZOX contributing to the album. In 2009 he was truly honored with appearing on the cover of the Providence Phoenix and garnering the award for Best MaleVocalist 2009!
Known for his virtuoso piano playing and catchy song writing. Lingo’s been compared to some of the best, including Billy Joel, Elton John, and Ben Fold’s. Reviews of his 2008 break out solo album, “Shake It Off,”(available on I-Tunes) have proven without question that the future hold’s a lot of promise for this piano front man.
Also in 2009, Johnny Lingo Band (JLB), showcased at the NACA Mid-Atlantic Festival. Stepping out on stage with only a piano and his drummer, Chase, the crowd could not believe how full the band sounded with only two people! Their performance got them immediately booked at Cornell University and Mount Saint Mary’s for the fall of 2009.
Johnny Lingo Band is now touring as a duo, and plan to head into the studio this fall to create their debut album. In the meantime, check their calendar for live dates throughout New England. R.I. Radio Stations 95.5, 94.1 and 90.3 play songs, Step Outside and 1in10.
