Reminisants, The

The Reminisants have been entertaining audiences of all ages throughout New England since 1973. Although primarily categorized as an Oldies act, the band's repertoire features dance music that appeals to a variety of musical tastes across several generations. The Reminisants have performed for just about every type of function imaginable including corporate functions, elementary school assemblies, senior citizen events, birthday parties, bar/bat mitzvahs, weddings, anniversaries, harbor and ocean cruises, concerts and parades. Each year they entertain on a weeklong cruise to Bermuda (on Norwegian Cruise Lines) and will perform on the island at St. George's Heritage Day Festival. Their Oldies routines are a favorite at car shows and rallies sponsored by national and regional car clubs and auto dealers. During the summer months, the band performs at over 45 open-air concerts and festivals that are free to the public, such as The Big E in Springfield, MA, Lincoln Park, RI, "Autumnfest" in Woonsocket, RI, the Italian Feasts of Boston's North End and New England's most popular Seafood Festivals. In addition, the band entertains regularly on the Seashell Stage at Hampton Beach. They also perform at restaurants and nightclubs such as Kobalt Lounge at Lincoln Park, RI, JP's Lounge at Polcari's in Saugus, Foxwoods Resort & Casino Lounge, and Christy's Landing in Newport, RI. The Reminisants are also actively involved in raising funds for many local charities including Multiple Sclerosis (www.dance4MS.org), Boys' and Girls' Clubs, Cystic Fibrosis and the National Liver Foundation each year. The Reminisants have performed with many of the legends of Rock N' Roll such as Felix Cavaliere with his Rascals, Danny & the Juniors, BJ Thomas, Johnny Rivers, Chubby Checker, Paul Revere & the Raiders, Bill Haley's Comets, Shirley Reeves and the Shirelles, Herb Reed and the Platters, The Belmonts, The Marvellettes, The Tokens, The Contours, Bobby Lewis, Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, Poco and country music star Patty Loveless. The band was formed in 1973. Dom "Rocky" Viscione, vocalist and guitarist, co-founded the band with lead singer and high school best-friend Mike "Teen Angel" Joyal. They have nurtured the act over many years to its current five-man compliment. Dom's wit and lyric ability is unmatched anywhere while Mike really knows how to handle an audience. Featured keyboard player and accomplished musician, "Bobby John" Spitaleri, provides creative orchestrations distinctive to the group's sound. Bob has performed in some of the most popular bands in New England. As a member of "Shaboom", Bob performed throughout the northeast in the enormously well received Musical Tribute to Roy Orbison with Pat Benti. He has also opened for nationally known legends as The Righteous Brothers, Roy Orbison, Johnny Rivers and Herb Reed's Platters, to name a few. Bob was also a member and partner for many years with one of Boston's best dance bands, The Godsons. Bass player, Mac Hayes, (also known as "The Monsignor") in addition to being a high school friend of Dom and Mike, is The Reminisants' third solo vocalist and an important ingredient to the band's harmonies. Mac founded, sang and played guitar in a band called The Fogge that enjoyed wide spread local success and opened for legends such as, Chicago, B.B. King, The Cars and The James Montgomery Blues Band, to name a few. Peter Veneto, the drummer for The Reminisants', worked for many years with keyboard player, Bob Spitaleri, in The Godsons. He also toured with the popular Band in Boston in the 70's. Pete also has opened for legends such as, Roy Orbison, Herb Reed's Platters and Herman's Hermits. A journeyman musician, Peter provides not only downbeats, tempos and rhythms, but also a refreshing sense of humor and a fifth vocal to the band. The Reminisants are proud of their reputation as one of Boston’s most enduring and consistent stage acts. The Band averages over 120 performances a year and currently books engagements 6 to 18 months in advance.
